Foxconn to Expand EV Ecosystem in Beijing
October 03, 2016

Foxconn is planning to revamp an old facility previously run by Nokia in Beijing and transform it into an electric vehicle (EV) R&D center, which will be the operation center of car makers such as China's BAIC Group and US-based Tesla, reported Economic Daily News on October 3. In May, FIH Mobile Limited, a Foxconn subsidiary, acquired Nokia's assets in China from Microsoft, including the Beijing facility. By joining forces with Innolux and ESON Precision Engineering in the conglomerate, Foxconn is actively developing its EV ecosystem. Innolux has broken into the high-end automotive display panel market since 2007, and is now a major supplier to BMW, Porsche, Jaguar, and Ford. Meanwhile, ESON has been a supplier to Tesla for sunroof and battery components.
